ahhh i am so fail! i took up dance lessons, RNB STYLE! itsl ike a cross between hip hop and popping/ locking. except where popping is jeryk, RNB is more smooth, i was sooo scared at first. haha so embarassing lah. took the corner of the room along with yong wei and rui bin.
started off with warm ups and shit......! i am sooo out of place! its like everyones all skinny and in trackpants and t shirts. then theres me! this big oversized blob in the dance studio. in school uniform and black leather shoes. so bloody hard to dance in them especially if the dance is meant to be smooth. i just cant get the gliding feeling. the girl which i later found out to be kirsten started off by teaching us bits of a dance routine. it started off alright then it just got harder and more fluid and for someone like me that can only sort of pop and c - walk. i am so stiff, i looked at everyone and they are like freaking jelly man. oh well yong wei was having as much trouble as me.
i managed to cope somehow but there were so many times where i fell behind in the routine. i just want to like give up but i mean it was an interesting experience. at the end of the lesson i can do the whole routine which was pretty satisfying and i have to say i did not regret staying on and learning. ill definately be coming back next week to learn more.
might need to practice the moves but the stupid thing is the song.. i got the song but i dont know where to start. they're all just beats to me and sometimes i can get the right bit but i get so absorbed with the moves that i fall behind in the song.
dancing RNB is quite an interesting experience. you learn the legs first. then when you get it right, kirsten adds the hand movements to it and there you go! a small step in the dance routine. it was pretty hard for me to handle, listen to the music to get the beat right, making sure your feet are where they are meant to be, arms all moving and seem to have a life of their own. it may seem a lot to remember but when you hear the teacher go 5,6,7,8! you just snap straight into it!
going to learn popping in 2 months time. still considering to carry on from the beginner to the intermediate RNB lessons.. but im scared i won't be good enough man.. well see at the end of the sessions
